Chinanjiru Penpole

In the banks of Śivaganga, clad in beautiful attire, is Durga who is likened to a young girl. The beauty of her eyes is beyond description. Her slender waist appears like lightning, and her hair is braided with Jasmine flowers. She dances as if she is the perfect match for Śiva himself. 

The battle between Ravana and Jatayu 

A scene from the Ramayana, the Indian epic depicts the gripping combat between Ravana and Jatayu. This action-filled narrative is performed to the brilliantly acclaimed Antonio Vivaldi’s “Winter”. The scene begins when Sita, the wife of Prince Rama gains consciousness on the chariot after being abducted by Ravana, the King of Lanka. Hearing Sita’s cries for help, Jatayu, the King of Eagles attempts to protect Sita by attacking Ravana with his wings, and beak. The epic describes this battle as “two gigantic clouds heaved by the tornadic gusts”. [3-51-2] In the end, an enraged Ravana severs Jatayu’s wing leaving the valiant Jatayu to die in abject pain.
