Artistic Lineage
Mahati Kannan is a third-generation artist from the illustrious lineage of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Trained by her mother and grandmother as well, Mahathi carries forward a legacy with great responsibility. She is a versatile Bharatanrityam dancer with in-depth training in all aspects of dance – music, nattuvangam, and scholarly research. Her performances exude mastery over technique and dexterity in execution. She is an invited speaker at several conferences and provides insights into the work and research of her Gurus. Mahathi lives a life of Gurukulavasam and is constantly surrounded by art, artists, and artistic conversations. This episode on ‘Artistic Lineage’ takes us into her life and learnings.
